Spam

Morning, everyone :-)   Kind of slow this morning, as on all Mondays.  I was up late writing, and I haven’t had my daily quota of coffee yet.  So of course, I got over here, and I had 108 bits of spam pending that I had to get rid of even though I just cleaned it out yesterday.  Can I just tell you how much I hate spam?!  Uuuggghhhh.  There’s always more, and lately it’s been an avalance.  I the website didn’t have a filter, you’d all be subjected to a zillion ads for porn and viagra, many of them in Russian.  There was an episode recently where I got hit with a lot of stuff ffrom a site on how to build a fence, though.  That was random.  I can’t recall ever talking about fencing.  Though now that I am, I suppose that’ll get worse. *sigh*
I really wonder about the people who create and dispense spam for a living.  Maybe they all live in their parents’ basements, weigh 500 pounds, and can’t get a date to save their lives.  So, in bitterness, in the cavelike dark, they bring forth their malevolent spam and blanket the world.  Apparently this even happens in Russia.  Spam is just right up there with telemarketers on the “annoying” scale for me.  As the lady in the Monty Python sketch says, “I DON’T LIKE SPAM!!”  Okay, rant over :-)   And to thank you for sitting through it, here is something pretty for Monday.  You all remember Marco, of course…
PhotobucketHappy Monday, ladies!

Something Fun

Had a post up earlier, but decided it was too early to actually celebrate since I have nothing firm in hand as yet on this whole submission thingie I’ve been going through.  Promising stuff, but no dice quite yet, and I don’t want to jinx myself!  SO, in lieu of that, here’s something fun to dance to on a warm and sunny Friday.  One of my faves.  And hopefully I’ll be able to tell you all something good next week!
I’ve always particularly loved Sam the Bald Eagle.  Don’t ask me why, but he cracks me up :-D   Have a great weekend!

The Romance Novel Commercial

Okay, I had to put this up.  I’m very bored this week, so you’ll have to humor me, I’m afraid :-)   You all may have seen this, but it’s new…and even though I was left staring at the screen after my first viewing trying to figure out whether I thought it was lame or not, it’s definitely grown on me!  It’s the romantic hero (aka “manly man”) explaining why our real men should smell like him.  And…he’s really just awesome.  Try to watch it and not be left grinning.  I mean, dude is narrating himself.  How can I not love it??

As an added bonus, here’s a commercial that didn’t make the cut for the Superbowl…banned, sadly.  But it lives on, on Youtube!  Who among us has not had to deal with this?

Have a great Thursday, ladies!

Poor Beaker

New Muppets!  Gave me a chuckle as I’m sort of semi-awake this morning.  Enjoy.  Beaker on fire always makes me smile :-)

Wednesday Stuff

Couple of things for Wednesday.  Firstly, hat tip to Donna for letting us know about the Glambert performance on Ellen yesterday!  I have video to share, because I love this song, Strut.  Not a big fan of Whataya Want From Me, the last single, but I like almost everything else on the album, so YAY!  He’s so pretty…and inspiring too, actually.  He was apparently quite heavy in high school and got picked on all the time.  The guy certainly turned into a swan after the fact!  But I would guess that his previous struggles are one of the reasons he seems so sweet.  I’m sad that he’s gay only because it’s such a loss for women everywhere!  I suppose, with my love of guyliner-wearing men who fall somwehere in the Goth/Glam Rock part of the spectrum, I am doomed to drool over a lot of gay men.  Oh well :-)
Lemmee see, I found another thing that was entertaining as well.  I’m totally dating myself, but I still love Pee Wee Herman.  I miss his show (and if you’ve never seen the HBO special that started it all, you are missing out…it was NOT a kids’ show, just adult humor disguised as one, and OMG it was hysterical).  And color me thrilled that the guy seems to be making a comeback!  So I laughed my butt off when he appeared on Conan’s final show to explain the NBC mess.  The guy still has it!
Hope you all enjoy your day!  My mom’s coming to visit for a few, which is awesome, and yesterday I FINALLY got the dragon proposal to leave my desk for good.  It kept returning to me with just a few small tweaks needed…sort of got to be The Thing That Wouldn’t Leave.  BUT, it left, and is now on my editor’s desk, sooo…I will recommence finger crossing!!  Now I can get back to my Dark Hunter book :-)   Happy Wednesday!

On Owls, Being Awake, and Sleep Talking

The “being awake,” it is not making me happy this morning.  I’m reeeeeally tired because not only did my youngest stay up half the night with a cough (and being four years old, he was decidedly less than sweet about it), but we had the interesting experience of being kept awake by none other than an owl that had decided to perch on the roof directly above our bedroom.  It was pretty cool at first…the strange noise was first incorporated into the dream I was just starting to have…but you know, after a half hour of the owl rather loudly calling (and being answered in kind) I was ready to have it quiet again.  Since Jack got up AGAIN shortly thereafter, it was not to be. Never heard an owl like that before.  We tried to see if it was perched outside a window so we could get a look at it, but it was definitely on the roof.  So this morning, I did some research online, and it turns out our nocturnal visitor was a Great Horned Owl.  That call is unmistakable as anything else.  Aren’t they pretty?  It was likely calling with its mate.  I love owls, so it’s pretty cool that we seem to have a pair in the immediate area.

So going with the sleep theme, have you guys heard of Sleep Talkin’ Man?  I believe he and his wife have been on some morning shows just lately, because their funny little blog has taken off.  He apparently talks in his sleep almost every night, and his wife thought the stuff he said was so out there she started recording it for posterity.  To both of their surprise, they are suddenly a little bit famous.  Here’s a sample, a night where Adam (that’s his name) was apparently dreaming about pirates:

“If I wanted to see a long nose and a big ass, I’d look at a horse.”

“Butt cheeks ahoy! There she blows!”

“You can’t be a pirate if you haven’t got a beard. I said so. MY boat, MY rules.”

“We haven’t got a plank. Just fucking jump.”

“Don’t jump on me!”

It’s pretty funny, I highly recommend it. And if they ever put “Badgertastic!” on a t-shirt, I do believe I would buy one :-)   Check it out here.  And have a great Tuesday!

It’s Friday!

A little something festive for Friday, brand new from the Muppets.  And three of my favorite Muppets, no less!  I have a Beaker tee-shirt I wear all the time.  So I have to bite the bullet and do my Christmas cards this weekend, and I need to get a bunch of stuff sent in the mail, and…yeah, I have things to do.  My husband informs me he isn’t coming out of the basement for the next couple of days anyway, so I guess I have time.  He’s putting up sheetrock, not hiding.  I think.  Meanwhile, I decided to dust off my Wii Fit, and my abs hurt.  I rock the universe at Wii hula hoop, though :-)   Strangely, I can’t manage a real one to save my life.  I’m getting excited about my present.  I told you all I’m getting a B&N Nook right?  A Nookie, LOL.  I’ve been loading up my B&N wishlist every time I get on the computer, though.  Brian isn’t allowed to see exactly how many books I plan to buy, heh heh heh…the e-reader better be as cool and comfy as everyone says, because I plan to USE it!  Enjoy the Carol of the Bells, and have a great weekend!!

Manamana

Something fun for a lazy Tuesday.  Also, happy December!  I can’t believe how fast the fall has gone.  I also can’t believe I have another book due in three months.  Umm…time to get working again!  It’s FREEZING here this morning, but it probably won’t last.  Considering the constant coughing and sniffing around here, I’m wishing for a hard freeze to kill off whatever is bugging the kids.  Anyway, I stuck this on my facebook the other day, but it’s worth spreading around.  I was a big fan of The Muppet Show growing up, along with all things Jim Henson, and I got a huge kick out of seeing some of the older characters brought back for this.  The “manamana” guy is in it too, hence the name of the post :-)   Enjoy, and have a beautiful day.

A Word From Dracula

Apparently, he is not into this whole Twilight thing :-D   You’ve gotta check this out…gave me a laugh this morning.  Enjoy your weekend, everyone, and if you head out to the theaters, enjoy the emo vampires and werewolves!

Why is the Sun Gone??

We’re getting smacked by this Atlantic MESS here yesterday and today, so I’m trying to think happy thoughts and imagine myself in places like this.  Looking out the window is no good, it’s just pelting rain and flying garbage cans.  Had to bring in my windchimes because they were going to get wrecked and/or disappear, and I keep hearing the deck furniture moving.  Slowly.  Ominously.  It may have been possessed by whatever dark spirits are unloading this crap on the coast.  My poor dogs are all bedraggled from their brief sojourns out to do their business.  I think the cat is gloating, since he gets to stay pretty.  I keep waiting for it to let up, but nooo, not yet.  Glad my neighborhood isn’t in a flood zone, but there are a lot of them around here.  I’m only glad that we don’t live in Virginia Beach anymore, because apparently the flooding there could turn out as big a mess as Isabel back in ’03, which I was around for.  Ew, buckets of rain.  Though it was a good excuse to make a big pot of soup, I guess.

I really could go for a hammock, a tropical island, and a frozen drink.  Or some rum.  Speaking of, I will leave you for the weekend (well, I’m not leaving, I’m just going to parked on my ass in the middle of a lake, I think) with a video that I know is one of Ms M’s favorites.  I’ve never put it up before, though, and hey, what would a tropical island be without Johnny?  For the record, Elizabeth is still an idiot for the way she allowed her drunken bonfire evening to end.  TGIF, and have a great weekend, everyone!  I wish you sun :-)
