Happy Summer Solstice!

It’s the longest day of the year, and fittingly, also my birthday :-D   I have hit the big 3-3 today, horrors.  Doesn’t feel much different than any number I’ve hit for the last few years, but I’m starting to think I’d like to put more birthdays on hold for a little bit!  Oh well, better than the alternative, right? :-)   I spent my weekend working with Monster Dog, who is still determined to teethe on the world, and getting my hair did, which was fun.  I have bangs for the first time since a rather unfortunate haircut I had back in the sixth grade, which then became an unfortunate incident with a poodle perm.  There are pictures.  No, you can’t see them.

Anyway, to celebrate the passage of spring into summer, and also to celebrate the wonder that is ME, heh heh, I invited some of my favorite menfolk over to par-tay.   Feel free to get your groove on.

So whaddaya say, ladies?  Break out the bubbly, put on some thematically-appropriate cheezy euro-pop from back when I was out at the clubs every weekend, and let’s have some fun!

Mantastic Monday. A Day For Forgetting About Football.

I shouldn’t have gotten invested in a Vikings victory.  My love is a curse.  WHYYYYY?!  Favre is still awesome, though.  Next year, baby. *sigh*  Anyway, here’s a picture that Diva Donna sent me to chase the blues away.  He’s a nameless Mr. Mantastic, so let’s have some fun and give him an appropriate moniker.  Something dark and sexy, because he’s totally a vampire taking a shower after a long night of brooding, wearing lots of black, and skulking in shadows.

Ideas, ladies?  I’ll begin with my contribution: he looks kind of like a Talon to me :-)   Different, dark, and dangerous.  Your turn!  Happy Monday, all.  And Donna, THANK YOU for keeping me supplied with such amazing eye candy!

Tasty Tuesday Mantastic-ness

As we discussed, Sam Worthington is definitely taking the Mantastic crown this week.  I’m apparently a little twisted, because the whole armor thing is just…rowr.  I couldn’t find anything of him with his shirt off, which sucks, because I am willing to bet that it’s a lovely sight, but even wearing clothing Sam is awfully pretty.  The above is him as Perseus in Clash of the Titans (must stop looking at armor or risk short circuiting keyboard with drool), and then there are these pics of him in Terminator: Salvation which actually make me want to see the film, despite the fact that I had no prior interest in seeing it.

Um, yeah…nothing wrong there.  Does he die (or whatever the machines do that’s a reasonable facsimile) at the end of this flick?  Probably.  He’s in it with Christian Bale, and I’m going to bet that HE doesn’t die at the end, so obviously they’ll make the heroic machine do it.  Again.  Didn’t they already do that in T2?  Argh.  Anyway, here’s one last yummy shot of Sam:

*happy sigh*  You know, I’m all for the occcasional naked cowboy, but I really like Sam even with all his cool, post-apocalyptic duds on.

Thanks again for the encouragement yesterday, ladies…you all keep me going (and laughing) sometimes when I would like to crawl into a corner and pull a blanket over my head.  I do not like synopses.  But another one bit the dust anyway.  WOOHOO!  Have a most excellent Tuesday!

Mantastic Matt

Okay, I know I sort of cheated and had Matt on Friday as well, but seriously, it was FRIDAY, and we all needed a naked cowboy to be here on Friday!  He just happened to be available.  However, since it is now officially Mantastic Monday, we can put the crown on him instead of the cowboy hat and enjoy the wonder that is Matt Schiermeier in all his not-really-wearing-much glory.  I do have to say, he’s a little TOO hardbodied for me personally, but man do I love those tattoos.  I’m playing with a new story, and the hero has all kinds of tattoos…except they’re not really tattoos, they’re a part of him, because he’s…well, you know what?  I’m going to let it be a surprise.  You’ll see:-)

In other news, I now have auburn hair.  I always wanted to be a redhead, but my genes prevented it.  There is a whole branch of my family that’s redheaded Irish, but of course I managed to take after the mousy brown part.  No, really, my natural hair color is about the most nondescript ash brown you’ll ever see.  Doesn’t even go with my skin tone.  Very annoying.  Anyway, for the next little while, I’m red.  It’s a fun switch.  Can’t do flame red, because I’d look silly, but the auburn is nice.  I think it helped me write the 7400 words I wrote this weekend!  I was on a roll!

Okay, I’m much more boring than Mr. Mantastic, so I’ll sign off and just let him be pretty.  Hope you all had a great weekend, and Happy Freaking Monday!:-D

Just Another Mantastic Monday

For whatever reason, this week’s Mr. Mantastic (his name seems to be Nick) reminded me of Donna’s interest in secluded cabins with hot men ;-)   Nick seems to have slipped out for just a moment wearing nothing but his blankie.  Which is fine, because the less these guys wear for their strut down the catwalk of Mantastic-ness, the better!  At first glance, I actually thought he was wearing a kilt, which would also be quite nice.  Maybe he’s a werewolf who has just woken up in the forest after a night of carousing?

Hope you all had a fun weekend.  Today is back to the grind for me…I promised myself this after a December spent enjoying friends and family and basically chilling.  Bought salads for my Excellent Diet Adventure when I was at the grocery store yesterday (yaaaaaaay *sigh*), took down the tree, put away my zillion freaking ornaments, etc.  The family room looks strangely bare where the tree was.  I still have a little chocolate left, which is going to be an unholy temptation for me.  Today is going to be a writing day, so maybe I won’t think about food as much.  Or maybe I’ll just whine about it, LOL.  I suppose looking at Nick is a good distraction!

Happy Monday, everyone, and welcome to 2010!  Hoping it’s a good one.  I’m also hoping it warms up soon, because I can already see I’m going to freeze my not insubstantial tail off when I head out.  Brr!

Mmmmmantastic…

Happy Monday, everyone!  Seeing as how I finally discovered the joys of the new Star Trek movie this weekend, I thought it only appropriate to choose hottie Chris Pine, aka James T. Kirk, as this week’s specimen of Mantastic-ness.  Shatner, he ain’t (and thank God for that)!  Very pretty eyes, lots of acting ability, and his expressions were a lot of fun to watch.  He has, I guess you’d say, a very expressive face.  Plus, you know, he’s just hot.  Nothing wrong with that :-)

It was an interesting weekend here…we got over a foot of snow, and Sunday afternoon the schools decided to cancel Monday and Tuesday, which kicks off the kids’ Christmas Break early.  Now, this is okay in the sense that I don’t have to get up and run around in the morning.  It’s not okay in the sense that the children are somehow already bored and have decided that the best way to remedy this is to torment one another into screeching fits of temper, then tattle.  At least Brian took the week off as well, so I’m not the only one yelling.  The kids have had a blast in the snow, since it’s a novelty for them.  They keep trying to get me out in it, but I’m not big on freezing my butt off!  I did go out in it yesterday to watch them for a while, and I had to bust out the only boots I currently own: my circa 1994 Doc Martens, leprechaun green with tartan laces, bought on a high school trip to London.  I had a lot of fun in those boots!  My daughter deemed them cool.  They certainly looked interesting when worn with my Catholic school uniform, I remember.  I’ll pass them along when she gets older, probably along with my Steve Madden platforms.  I had just as much fun in those, though the memories are a little hazier ;-)

Anyway, hope you all had a good weekend…Christmas approaches!  Brian and I watched the George C. Scott version of A Christmas Carol last night, because, well…you’ve gotta!  Stay warm, and enjoy the day.

It’s Monday…Giddyup!

This week’s Mr. Mantastic doesn’t have a name.  Does he really need one?  He’s a shirtless, smokin’ hot Black Hat.  He’s allowed to ride down the Mantastic catwalk to celebrate his triumph, as long as I get to ride off into the sunset with him!  YEEHAW:-)  I do love an outlaw.

It was kind of a funky weekend here…watched the Army Navy game on Saturday (GO NAVY!), and Sunday my neighbor and friend, at whose house I had watched the game the previous day, went into labor and in very short order gave birth to a little guy named Max.  So her little girls came over in the afternoon and spent the night, and I’m a little spent myself!  The kids all play together, it’s cool, but you get used to having a certain number of children in your house, and more is sort of energy zapping.  I did get motivated and make chocolate chip cookies.  Those were a hit.

I also tore through the book Marked by PC and Kristin Cast, which is the first in the House of Night series (this is YA fiction, just FYI), and OMG LOOOOVE.  If the rest of the series continues this way, that would make it seriously kickass.  I’ll do up a little review of it for this week at some point, but for now, I will just say that I want the next five books that are out.  I think book 6 just arrived in stores in November.  It’s nice to know I have a few more to read immediately!  Though I’m thinking these will be some of the first books I get for my Nook.  Excellent read, sucked me right in.  Finally, a strong, gorgeous, interesting GIRL who gets to have an adventure!  And the take on vampire mythology is really unique.

Have a happy Monday, everyone.  I have a bad feeling I’ll be dragging butt hardcore by noon, but maybe Mr. Black Hat can give me a lift through the rest of it.  Hope you all have a great weekend! :-)

Bana-tastic Monday

Happy Monday, everyone!  I made it back from Thanksgiving vacation at my parents’ house late Saturday, and my stomach is still recovering.  And by “recovering,” I mean it’s trying to remember it really doesn’t have that much capacity for food and probably shouldn’t try eating so much at once again.  At least until next year.  We had a lot of fun, though with so many people it was kind of wild, and the kids were pretty spastic by the end.  Still, I got to see my sister with my new nephew Aiden, who is SO CUTE, and geeked out with my little brother and my cousin for a while over music.  I love my family :-D   Thank God I was having a good hair day, because I see I’ve been tagged in a couple of photos on facebook.  My uncle’s wife managed to get the whole gaggle of us in for a few shots.  No, PHOTO shots!  Though I did enjoy quite a bit of wine.  Anyhoo…

Didn’t have a lot of time to sit and ponder today’s Mr. Mantastic, but I’ve been meaning to pass along the crown and sash to Eric Bana for a while now.  He’s one of those hottie Aussie actors I always like to see and don’t happen to catch in films often enough.  The pics are explanation enough why, though his voice is also quite yummy.

That second one’s of him in Troy.  Love a man who can wear a toga.  I still want to see The Time Traveler’s Wife, come to think of Bana movies…haven’t seen that.  Didn’t want to see The Other Boleyn Girl, because it looked depressing and according to my sister, it was in fact even worse than I’d thought in the “Oh God, this movie has made me want to slit my wrists” department.  Possibly they can just make a lot more toga movies and he can be in them all. *dreamy smile*

Enjoy your Monday, everyone, and I hope you all had an excellent, food-filled holiday!

Monday, Monday…

No, I won’t sing the rest of the song.  Hey, it’s a holiday week!  WOO!  I’m heading out of town, so I’ll only be blogging today and tomorrow this week, and then I’ll roll myself back into this chair for next Monday’s post :-)   Hey, how about a Mr. Mantastic?  Ran across an actor I haven’t thought of in a while, in my travels about the internets…this is probably because he only did one movie that I paid any attention to (though my, he was hot in it), which was a few years ago.  Still, whether he’s working much or not, you can’t deny he’s something to look at.  Here’s this week’s Mr. Mantastic, Chris Evans, otherwise known as Johnny Storm, The Human Torch, from the two mediocre Fantastic Four movies.  I say that as a fan of superhero movies.  These didn’t really do it for me.  If it weren’t for Chris and Julian McMahon in the first one, I might have gone off and found something else to do.  Eye candy on screen, however, heals a multitude of ills for me, and I stayed.  Yes, it’s shallow.  No, I am not ashamed.  Anyway, here’s Chris, who is not only refreshingly unwaxed of chest, but also has very pretty blue eyes to go with the rest of the yum going on.  Work it.

Speaking of mediocre movies, I’ve been hearing, um…let’s say “interesting” things about the quality of New Moon, which I am now starting to fret about spending money to see.  Though like I said, a couple of hours of the La Push pack would probably make me feel better about that.  So, who saw it?  And what didja think?  I’m just happy I caught up on all my shows this weekend!  I really think V is going to be my favorite.  I didn’t think so at first, but every episode has been so freaking good.

So how was the weekend?  Have a good Monday!

Mantastic Multiplied

In honor of New Moon coming out this week, I decided to go ahead and give the whole La Push wolf pack the title of Mssrs. Mantastic!  Also, it’s totally okay to have another shirtless Jacob picture on here, because he’s not alone, thus I am not being as cougar-ish as…oh, whatever, he’s hot.  But so is the rest of the pack.  I mean, would you be said if this crew happened upon you in some moonlit forest?  I think not.  So crowns and sashes for all!  And then maybe a romp in the woods :-)

I hope you all had a good weekend.  I spent all day yesterday cleaning and organizing my basement, which is sloooowly being finished off so that the kids can, um…stay in the basement.  It’s all set up like a playroom now, and they do play down there, plus we got them a new TV for their Wii.  Just have to get the rest of the sheetrock up.  And a floor.  But it’s framed, and it’ll get done sometime this winter.

On the writing front, I got some good news on Friday: my editor really likes the vampire proposal, so it got passed up the food chain to the big editor for their single title line.  No guarantees at all, but hey, it’s another step!  And now…more waiting!!

Have a great day, everyone :-D
